upcoming group show!

The Hive Gallery's "In the Garden of Your Mind" group show is this Saturday, September 7th! Opening reception starts at 8pm and ends at 11:30pm with a $5 suggested donation. it's a tribute exhibition for the programs of PBS. I did a hodgepodge piece of my favorite shows as a kid.

a little bit of a contest**
if you can guess all 5 shows referenced in the piece, i'll send you some new postcards fresh off the printer on nice fabriano paper.

instructions: come to the show, look at my piece, write down your answers, and then email me at spark0401@gmail.com with the subject line "PBS - winning picks"

if you cannot come to the show because you live so far away, i will post a picture of my piece about a week after the show opens.

contest will end when the exhibition closes. good luck!

status update!

it's been awhile since my last post! since then, i've dipped my feet in the stop motion industry! i'm gaining new experiences and meeting wonderful new people along the way at Starburns and BixPix. it's an exciting time working in the sets department for a feature film and a kid's tv series in the aforementioned studios, respectively.

besides that, i'm currently working on a few upcoming gallery shows! more info about the shows will be coming up soon!

new crown

someone told me the crown looks a bit phallic. so i changed it up. not that phallus crowns are wrong. just not right for this particular lady.

family tree, the resurrection

awhile ago i found out that one of my sculptures broke during transit to a lovely new home. my heart was broken like the sculpture, so i fixed it up. now it's good or better than before!

i was asked to make some props for a short film my really good and talented friend wrote. one of the props is a silly foot cream called "moist feet".

i personally like the color palette of the top label, but my friend told me, "think CLR"

happy valentine's day :)

i'm not normally a fan of valentine's day. but this year i felt i should at least make a virtual note of it.

brian the brain

i wanted to make the brain part really shiny. so it can seem encased in a thin, clear helmet.
the thickness of the shiny part isn't really showing up well in the photographs.
but overall, i like how it turned out.

i swear

just some different views of "i swear"

my favorite "swear" word is the one referencing battlestar galactica
but i wrote it with a c. guess i'm not that big of a fan.

Perched

this sculpture was also part of the show at flower pepper gallery and bookstore, "the look through my eyes". the final sculpture is perched on an L-shaped shelf. it's secured firmly with a screw. i couldn't take any good pictures that showed the subtle gradations of the shelf so here are some pictures of the sculpture outside its display shelf.

it's january of 2013, i thought i should start posting on my blog again.

the first post of the new year is this little bird sculpture i did a while back for a show at Flower Pepper Gallery in pasadena.  it's a tiny thing, 2.75 x 1.75 x 1inches. it's made mostly out of polymer clay. other parts include wire and acrylic paint. and it's currently available =)
